The Folly of Decoupling From China

The coronavirus pandemic and its exposure of supply chain vulnerabilities have heightened isolationist rhetoric from the Trump administration and led to calls to cut all ties between the Chinese and American economies. While such decoupling is entirely infeasible, there is a need to “recouple” global supply relationships to make them more resilient. In order to be successful, such restructuring will require much greater cooperation between policymakers and experts with deep technical knowledge of supply chains. For more, see here.
